New Politics Party Urges PM to Counter Hun Sen's Statement
UPDATE : 26 October 2009
The New Politics Party has urged the Thai government to make an announcement in response to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, who said ousted ex-premier and fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra has not received justice from the Thai judicial system.

The acting secretary-general of the New Politics Party, Suriyasai Katasila and the acting spokesman for the New Politics Party, Samran Rodpetch urged the Thai government, especially Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, to make an announcement in response to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen who said that Thaksin Shinawatra has not received justice from the Thai judicial system.

Such an announcement is deemed necessary in order to inform the international community of Thaksin's abuse of power and to uphold the Thai judicial system as well as the pride and dignity of Thai people.

Suriyasai says that it is a failure of the foreign policy of the Abhisit government that Thailand has yet to respond to Hun Sen's statement, which has damaged the reputation of the Thai judicial system.

He suggested that Foreign Affairs Minister Kasit Piromya, have a talk with the premier to find a proper stance for the Thai government before there is a conflict between the two nations.

Suriyasai expressed concern regarding the return of General Chavalit Yongchaiyudh to Thai politics as a key member of the Pheu Thai Party.

Suriyasai commented that the recent meeting of General Chavalit with Hun Sen is a part of a political game to help Thaksin.

Suriyasaid revealed that, in order for General Chavalit to prove his sincerity in bringing national reconciliation, he must use his personal relationship with Hun Sen to make way for negotiation over the disputed 4.6 square kilometer site near Preah Vihear temple.

Suriyasai also suggested that General Chavalit should persuade Thaksin to return to Thailand and fight his case.

He added that General Chavalit should call for an end to the movement by supporters of the Democractic Alliance Against Dictatorship as well.

Meanwhile, the acting spokesperson for the New Politics Party, Samran, commented that incidents surrounding Hun Sen's statement, made upon arrival in Thailand, including the responses of General Chavalit and Thaksin are a well-staged plan aiming to harmoniously create this political scene.

Samran also warned the alumni from Class 10 of the military preparatory school, the classmates of Thaksin, who recently became members of the Pheu Thai Party that they will be used as a dispensable political tool by Thaksin Shinawatra.
