Baan Talay Fa provides truly ultra-stylish accommodation set alongside Pilai Beach in Phang Nga province’s Takua Tung district.
The chic family-owned resort is run by Pornthep ‘Rang’ Wanpateh, one of the country’s leading hair stylists.
Since opening its doors officially in 2008, the resort has become a popular destination among leading A-list celebrities, such as supermodel Metinee Kingpayom, along with other major stars.
Vim And Vigor
Celebrities head for the exclusive resort since it provides the ideal setting in which to rest and relax, offering an ideal escape from the hectic pace of life in the capital. The resort’s location provides visitors with an enticing combination of sandy beaches and mountains, while it's only a 20-minute drive from Phuket International Airport.
The resort has seven private, luxury villas, which are wonderfully spacious and modern. There are lots of books to choose from, particularly on the subject of art and décor, design, fashion, home decoration and photography. There’s a particularly nice spot for reading outside by the pool under a large tree.
We stayed for two nights in a villa that featured a completely white decorative design, apart from a set of bright blue curtains. Porthep says the objective was to create a style of décor that fell between fa (‘the sky’) and talay ('the ocean'). We certainly felt energized by the villa’s impressive ambiance.
Al Fresco Experience
While the comfortable environment made it tempting to just relax in our room, the sun was beginning to set, so I ordered a glass of Mojito to sip on a bench under a tree outside the villa. This provided a spotlessly indulgent experience.
During the evening the resort prepares various barbecue options, featuring meats and seafood seasoned with herbs and spices, along with a variety of sauces and dressings. As the evening wore on, it remained beautifully quiet and peaceful, so the only sound I could hear was the lapping of the waves. In this sense, the resort has met the owner's principal objective, which was to establish a resort that's truly a retreat in every sense of the word.

Finally, I ought to point out that guests at Baan Talay Fa Resort can choose from a range of massages, spas and other forms of pampering in a private beach-focused setting, which, in terms of wellness solutions, ticks all the right boxes.
During the low season (July through October 31), a villa costs just 4,200 baht (US$130) per night, which offers terrific value when you consider that it would cost 5,200 baht per night during the high season and up to 11,000 baht per night towards the end of the year (December 15-January 7).
